Covid-19 Procedures and Measures

The following is a non-exhaustive list of the procedures and measures which Newcastle CC will be implementing from 4th July, to allow for the bar facilities to reopen in a Covid-safe manner.

 

  1. Table bookings will be in place, and entrance will be restricted to those who have booked tables in advance.
  2. Booking will be via on online form, or calling 07825294741. Bookings can be made for up to two households for tables indoors or outdoors – please advise if more than 6 people in total will form part of the group. Bookings for up to 6 people from any number of households can be made for outdoor tables only. Details of all guests will be required at booking to comply with government track and trace regulations.
  3. Bookings will be for 2hr 45 minute slots: 12pm-2.45pm, 3pm-5.45pm and 6pm-8.45pm. Guests are asked to vacate the table promptly at the end of their slots to permit sanitisation ahead of the next booking.
  4. Guests are requested to wait outside the main gates, in a socially distanced manner, until shown to their tables. Once at their tables, guests are requested to remain at the table except for using the toilets, or if asked by staff to allow payment to be taken.
  5. Entrance will be via the main, disabled access gates only. Any changes to booked guest’s details must be reported at this stage.
  6. Signs will be displayed prominently around public areas informing customers of
    1. The need for social distancing and what this entails
    2. The need for good hygiene practices, including hand washing
    3. The “catch it, bin it, kill it” advice
    4. Location of “sanitisation stations”
  7. Seating will be arranged so as to permit social distancing between households. 2m distancing will be clearly marked elsewhere to enable customers to maintain a safe distance.
  8. The function room bar only will be open, as this allows far easier social distancing, and a one way flow of customers. All one way systems will be clearly marked. A maximum of 30 customers will be permitted in the function room at any time to permit adequate social distancing. A maximum of 138 customers will be allowed in the premises in total at any one time, spread across 23 tables.
  9. One way routes to toilets will be clearly marked.
  10. All doors (excluding fire doors) will be fixed open where feasible to minimize contact points.
  11. Signs outside toilets will inform users of a maximum occupancy, the need for “one in, one out”, and safe queuing guidelines, with distances marked on the floor. If required, additional toilet facilities will be provided.
  12. Signs inside the toilet will remind customers of the need for thorough hand washing, and what this entails. Paper towels will be provided, and it is suggested that customers use these top turn taps on and off.
  13. “Sanitisation stations” will be provided at the site entrance, exit, and toilets, enabling customers to use hand gel and paper towels to further enhance hygiene.
  14. All staff will be adequately trained in their responsibilities, and to ensure they are aware of the latest and best hygiene practices for Covid-19 control.
  15. A designated first aider will form part of every team shift. If attending to a first aid matter, the first aider will wear a mask, gloves and disposable apron.
  16. All drinks will either be served in cans/ bottles or in plastic glassware. All rubbish will be doubled bagged for 72 hours before disposal.
  17. Routine cleaning will take place at the beginning and end of every shift using a suitable disinfectant cleaner for a minimum of 30 seconds. All tables and seating will be cleaned between bookings slots. All contact points (door handles, taps etc.) will be cleaned on an hourly basis with a suitable disinfectant cleaner for a minimum of 30 seconds, with particular attention paid to toilets.
  18. Drinks will be ordered via a text based service. Drink menus will be available and online – where possible guests are requested to take a photo of the main drinks menu on entry. Drink orders and table numbers will be text to the bar, where drinks will be poured and delivered to the table/ benches. Contactless payment will be taken at the table where possible, or at a dedicated, socially distanced payment point otherwise.
  19. All brewery deliveries will be contact free, and all items brought into the premises cleaned with a suitable disinfectant.
  20. An accessible area will be reserved in which seating for up to 6 people is a minimum of 2 metres apart, to be used by those who are considered clinically vulnerable after 6th Although the club would discourage clinically vulnerable customers from attending at this time, it is recognised that official guidelines permit them to do so from 6th July, and as such extra measures will be taken to ensure their safety.
  21. A record log of compliance with all procedures as above will be kept, including the list of attendees for 21 days. This will form a “Covid-file”, which will be kept as a record of these adherences.
  22. Guidance, procedures and risk assessments will be published on the club website to ensure visibility to the public, A hard copy will also be made available on request.

Covid-19 Staff Awareness Programme: update 01/07/2020

The club acknowledges that this is a difficult time, with many people keen to get back to pubs after a long absence, However, it is essential that we operate in a safe, secure manner at all times, and this includes in response to the coronavirus Covid-19 pandemic, for which we have introduced a number of measures (see Procedures & Measures). All staff (including voluntary staff) must read the following guidelines, and sign to say they have read, understood, and agree to adhere to the following regulations and requirements.

 

  1. Staff must not attend work if they feel unwell with symptoms of covid-19, or are self-isolating, and if any symptoms develop whilst at work they must inform their manager immediately, and will be sent home, where they are advised to follow government guidelines on isolation. Staff who are considered clinically extremely vulnerable (those who are “shielding”) should remain shielding and will not be asked to rerun to work.
  2. All staff must be familiar with the latest guidelines on social distancing, available at https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/staying-alert-and-safe-social-distancing/staying-alert-and-safe-social-distancing-after-4-july. Briefly, this requires that people should aim to stay at least two metres away from anyone outside of their household (or social bubble), or where this is not feasible, one metre plus extra precautions, such as ensuring no face to face seating.
  3. Staff should also familiarise themselves with the latest guidelines for opening pubs, restaurants etc, available at https://www.gov.uk/guidance/working-safely-during-coronavirus-covid-19/restaurants-offering-takeaway-or-delivery. Briefly, this states that pubs, restaurants etc may reoprn from 4th July, but must ensure they make themselves “Covid secure”. The steps taken by the club to ensure this are outlined in our Procedures & Measures document, and detailed in our risk assessment document.
  4. Staff must ensure that all surfaces are cleaned for a minimum of 30 seconds with warm soapy water, followed by a disinfectant spray, prior to the start and at the end of each shift. These surfaces include all tables, bar tops, doors and door handles, handrails, etc. Additionally, all tables must be cleaned with a suitable disinfectant between customer booking slots. Contact points, which include all door handles, taps etc must be cleaned as above every hour, and the record log signed to say this has been completed. Particular attention should be paid to toilets in cleaning.
  5. Only customers who have booked a table will be permitted to enter. One staff member will greet customers at the gate, ensure we have the correct details, then show them to their allocated table.
  6. Customers will be asked to place drinks orders via a text service, including their table or bench number. The phone will be kept behind the bar. Orders should be dealt with in the order they come through, by the member of staff designated to pouring drinks, whilst wearing gloves. Gloved hands should never touch your face, or a contact point (publically available door handles etc.), and must be changed immediately if they do so.
  7. Drinks should be taken to the table by the third member of staff, and left for the customer in a socially distanced manner. It may be necessary to place drinks a short distance from the bench and request that customers collect them. Payment should then be taken, preferably via contactless payment.
  8. Staff must wash their hands thoroughly and regularly. Thoroughly means with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds in accordance with government guidelines, and regularly means as often as is practical, but especially after contact with any contact points surface or other source of potential transmission.
  9. The designated First Aider for each shift must wear gloves, a face mask and an apron (which will be provided in the first aid kit) if they are attending to a first aid issue.
  10. Wearing gloves and thorough hand washing may increase the risk of dermatitis, and us as such staff are advised to use emollients to reduce such risks. Staff should be aware of the symptoms of dermatitis, and report any suspected cases to their line manager immediately. Please speak to your line manager if you have any concerns or questions regarding this.
  11. Other PPE can be worn if desired by the individual, but the club notes that it has not been shown to be an effective way to prevent covid-19 transmission, and is not a substitute for good hygiene practices outlined above.
  12. All drinks will be served in single use containers. This can be cans or bottles if appropriate, or single use plastic glasses otherwise.
  13. Bins will provided at each table, and these should be lined with two bags. Customers will be asked to use the bins provided, but staff must ensure that any glassware, cans or bottles are placed in these bags. When full, the bags must be tied, and left in a secure location for 72 hours, before being disposed of.

COVID-19 Risk Assessment for Newcastle Cricket Club: update 20/07/2020

Newcastle Cricket Club acknowledge we are still under Coved 19 pandemic conditions. We welcome the  opportunity to be able to play cricket under the Government and ECB guidance and will look to implement the following Risk assessment to ensure everyone’s safety.

A previous risk assessment permitting use of the function room and outdoor terrace as a bar is established. Procedures covered by this are referred to in this document, and expanded upon where necessary. This document is available as a appendix to this Risk assessment.

Newcastle Cricket Club will appoint for the remainder of the 2020 season a Match Official and assisstants responsible for ensuring this Risk Assessment is implemented.

A plan for where parents and players will sit whilst watching cricket activities.

Spectators can book in advance (or on arrival, providing all necessary details) seating on the tabled areas of the terrace or in the function room, in accoradance with government guidelines and previously established bar operating risk assessments. These spectators will be classed as bar users and must adhere to all procedures as such, and all measures and procedures relating to these spectators will be covered by the bar users procedures.

 

Alternatively, spectators may register as spectators (in advance or on arrival). These spectators will be asked to proceed to the right on entering and may use any of the bech seating to view the cricket, socially distanced as appropriate, and guided by signs and markings. Spectators may use the toilet, following established one way routes, and may queue for the bar in a socially distanced manner, but must be aware that priority will be given to bar users, and may be asked not to queue if this interferes with social distancing.

 

Where multiple games occur on one day, an area will be reserved for players not participating in the current match to watch.

 

Any seating set out to observe social distnacng must not be moved without express permission from staff.

Assess ventilation in your building (natural and mechanical) and take appropriate measures to maximize ventilation and minimize risk of transmission.

Players will be asked to use the player’s balcony which is under cover but exposed along one wall. Teams will be asked to stick to separate ends of the balcony as marked, to minimize cross contamination. 17 socially distanced chairs for players, plus 2 for scorers, will be set out to allow this.

Assess the maximum occupancy of your rooms at 2m social distancing (or 1m with risk mitigation where 2m is not possible) and establish a suitable circulation system/one-way system.  Use signage and floor markings to communicate this.

The capacity of all indoor rooms been established and will be communicated and adhered to. This includes 30 seated customers + 3 staff + 7  socially distanced queuing in the function room bar, 2 people at any one time in the men’s and women’s toilets, 1 in disabled toilets, and a maximum of 5 queueing for toilets. The outdoor tabled area has a capacity of 108 people, seated at tables. Other up to 100 other spectators will be permitted at one time to use the other seating available at the ground.

 

One way systems have been established and are advertised in with signage and floor marking to permit smooth flow of all ground users. All bar customers are encouraged to remain seated with the excpetion of using the toilet.

PPE can be used by staff where desired, but it is noted that Public Health guidance on the use of PPE to protect against COVID-19 relates to health care settings. In all other settings individuals are asked to observe social distancing measures

and practice good hand hygiene behaviours. It may be preferable for staff to wear disposable gloves when using drinks dispensers and other contact points.
