Role description |
To write and distribute content on Newcastle Cricket Club’s communication platforms to promote the Club’s brand and activities. To act as a liaison between the Club, its membership, customers, the public and the media to ensure that the brand remains top of mind. As our Communications Officer, you should be able to think creatively and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. |
Duties/Responsibilities |
Collaborate with the Directors to develop and implement and effective communications strategy based on our target audience.
Write, edit and distribute content, including publication, press releases, website content, annual reports and other marketing material that communicates the Club’s activities, products and/or services.
Respond to media inquiries, arrange interviews and act as spokesperson for the Club.
Establish and maintain effective relationships with journalists and maintain a media database.
Seek opportunities to enhance the reputation of the brand and co-ordinate publicity events as required.
Maintain records of media coverage
Proficiency in design and publishing software.
Manage conflict as it arises and escalate to Directors

Experience required

Have a demonstratable interest in organisational communications strategy and delivery.
Demonstrate proficiency across key communications platforms such as Microsoft office, content management and social media platforms.
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
Good time management and organisational skills

Yes depending on the requirements of the appointed person to be identified at informal and formal role reviews.

GET SET WEEKEND
Formerly Cricket Force, this rebranded event is a vital part of the pre season preparations, and your chance to make a real and visible contribution to this historic ground.
For 2023, the Get Set weekend will be held on 1st and 2nd April. We welcome all helpers and volunteers. As an added incentive, any playing member* will get £10 credit to spend at the bar for helping out at this year’s event!

VOLUNTEERING
Like all voluntary organisations, the many activities and benefits for the community are dependent on the goodwill and hard work of volunteers.
More than a hundred support the club – and we would welcome many more.
If you have a special interest or skills, just let us know
Opportunities include:
- Helping at the annual Cricketforce volunteer weekend in spring, preparing the ground
- Joining the Bar Committee
- Assisting with events
- Helping with administration
- Taking photos at matches and uploading to online albums
- Cricket coaching and scoring (accredited training provided)
