Role description |
To write and distribute content on Newcastle Cricket Club’s communication platforms to promote the Club’s brand and activities. To act as a liaison between the Club, its membership, customers, the public and the media to ensure that the brand remains top of mind. As our Communications Officer, you should be able to think creatively and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. |
Duties/Responsibilities |
Collaborate with the Directors to develop and implement and effective communications strategy based on our target audience.
Write, edit and distribute content, including publication, press releases, website content, annual reports and other marketing material that communicates the Club’s activities, products and/or services.
Respond to media inquiries, arrange interviews and act as spokesperson for the Club.
Establish and maintain effective relationships with journalists and maintain a media database.
Seek opportunities to enhance the reputation of the brand and co-ordinate publicity events as required.
Maintain records of media coverage
Proficiency in design and publishing software.
Manage conflict as it arises and escalate to Directors

Experience required

Have a demonstratable interest in organisational communications strategy and delivery.
Demonstrate proficiency across key communications platforms such as Microsoft office, content management and social media platforms.
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
Good time management and organisational skills

Yes depending on the requirements of the appointed person to be identified at informal and formal role reviews.

Senior cricket – sponsors welcome for individual teams or for all four teams
Junior WASPS cricket – sponsors welcome for the three junior teams or for whole Junior WASPS section
Women’s cricket – sponsors welcome for individual match sponsorship (£40)
ANNUAL PRINTED PROGRAMME: High quality full colour programmes delivered to 5000 homes and businesses in Jesmond plus club members outside Jesmond and decision makers eg councillors.
HOARDINGS: highly visible, seen by thousands of visitors to the Club across the year, including social members and guests at the many functions and events held at the ground all year round. Games and training take place most days from April to September including those for the Royal Grammar School, attendance by the parents of Club Juniors, plus matches for our four senior teams.coaches
Dimensions: 20 feet x 2 ft 6 inches (or half hoarding is 10 feet wide)
Design: usually provided by hoarding producer. We’re happy to advise on designs which worked worked and look at draft artwork before hoarding is created.

- Joining the Bar Committee

- Helping with administration
- Taking photos at matches and uploading to online albums
- Cricket coaching and scoring (accredited training provided)
