After a very wet start to the season, it was great to see cricket played in glorious weather. All our senior sides took advantage to record excellent wins.
The first team, despite missing several players, had a thrilling win at Stockton. Set an imposing 296 to win, they completed victory in the last over with 2 wickets in hand. Neil Corby got them off to a good start with 57 but Mike Richardson then took control. He batted superbly to finish with 171 not out, breaking his own club record score set last year.

The second team also enjoyed batting and amassed 290 for 5 with James Carding setting a 2nd XI club record of 157. he was well supported by Sam Malpass with 48. Stockton made a very good effort to chase this and were finally all out for 262. Peter Hirst (pictured) took the bowling honours with 4 for 51 and was supported by Phil Hudson, Mark Fearon and Richard Stanyon who all took 2 wickets.

Final delivery - the Seconds take victory

To complete a fine weekend the 3rd XI beat Blaydon by 6 wickets. Veteran Alan Docherty returned to form with 4 for 11 from his 9 overs and Jack Sinclair weighed in with 2 for 24. In reply Newcastle were always in control with runs coming from all batsmen but the Sinclair brothers made the most significant contributions. Jack scored a very good 58 and 14 yo Ross made an excellent 40 no.
