Record turnout for 5th Real Ale & Cider FestivalWarm autumn nights meant Festival visitors enjoyed the special selection of 36 ales and ciders out on the candelit verandah, as well as in the Festival Bar and the club’s Pavilion Bar.
The five days included the first Festival Quiz – more than 20 teams took part. Congratulations to the winners Klute (2nd were Jesmond Frackers and 3rd My Granny Can’t Bite) and big cheers for fantastic quizmaster Andy Buckley.
Top prize in the raffle – the traditional 50 bottles of real ale – was won by Michael Cowperthwaite, with George Hurrell winning the Twenty20 tickets and Kevin Brindle the signed Durham CCC shirt (both courtesy of sponsor Marstons).
Many thanks to the new CAMRA student bar team to add to our seasoned regulars, to the Cider Bar sponsors Oaks Properties and to the generous cask sponsors (see list below). Also thanks to Albert for his spirited harmonica performance out on the verandah!
There’s now an album of pictures on our Facebook site
