Jacques breaks Club Record and Presentation Night

The Annual Presentation Night coincided with a thrilling last game of the season against Whitburn – the 1st XI chased 273 and won with 1 wicket remaining. Jamie Carding made a brilliant 76 no.

Highlights of the season included Jacques Du Toit’s 926 league runs, at an average of 61.73. Jacques broke the club record of 853 set by Ryan Philamore in 2003. He was ably supported by Graham Clark, who scored 786 runs at an average of 56.14. teamSee pictures of both and other squad members in action below.

Firsts_oliOllie McGee, in his first season at Jesmond, had a fantastic year taking 41 league wickets at an average of 22.39.
At the presentation evening, Ollie McGee was voted 1st XI Player of the Year.

Seconds_steveThe 2nd XI Trophy went to Stephen Pinnington with 414 runs, at an average of 34.50. There were also notable performances from Ross Sinclair (357 runs) and James Carr (329 runs) with the bat, and Keith Brown (30 wickets)and Phil Hudson (23 wickets) with the ball.

Thirds_GregorThe Sunday 3rd XI missed out on the league title by just 1 point, and once more brought on a number of young players. The Legends Cup, presented for the first time this season in memory of Alan Docherty, went to Gregor Pearce for his 16 wickets at 22.50. He won narrowly from his twin brother Finlay, who also took 16 wickets, and Alastair Poll who averaged 46.75 with the bat.
