Firsts win Tyne Wear Derby
The 1st XI continued their recent good form on Saturday with a win over Sunderland by 82 runs to follow their victory over the Durham Academy.
Batting first they relied upon an excellent 74 from Ben Raine, but were still in trouble at 139 for 8. Richard Stanyon (32) joined Martin Fearon (33no) and they added an invaluable 64 for the 9th wicket allowing a declaration at 205 for 9.
Cal Harding removed the dangerous Dan Shurben for a duck and then a devasting spell from Stanyon brought 3 quick wickets just before tea. Cal Harding (4-22) then returned to take 3 more wickets and with Fearon collecting a couple more Sunderland were all out for 123.
