More than 4000 spectators enjoyed a perfect clear evening and an amazing display at the third Jesmond Fireworks Display. And the nearby streets, houses, balconies and even the roof of Osborne Court were crowded with hundreds more people enjoying the performance.
Special guests included a favourite with the families Pudsey, and also Michael Richardson, player with the championship-winning Durham team as well as Newcastle CC – he brought the impressive trophy back from a royal reception at Buckingham Palace.
Treats for all ages included facepaints and glowpaints and a wide range of freshly-made snacks including paella, pancakes, hog roast and mulled wine. Real Radio presenter Sibbers entertained the crowds from the Radio Tyneside stage, including a demonstration of Zumba dancing from Klaire Sharp who leads a weekly class at the Jesmond club. We were also delighted to welcome again the charity stalls from our friends at St Oswalds Hospice and Percy Hedley College.
Many thanks to event sponsors Bond Dickinson, and also to Bowson Lettings, sponsors of the popular mulled wine bar. And a round of applause for the scores of volunteers who make the event possible, including Gosforth Sea Cadets, members of Newcastle Cricket Club and local residents. The club is also grateful to local traders, Ouseburn Parks Visitor Centre and community groups for assistance with advance ticket sales and equipment – we couldn’t do it without all this support!
Jesmond Local have some great pictures sent by their readers – check them here – and we’ve started an album on our Facebook site – more will be added soon! Thanks once again to the brilliant Steve Brock for his superb pictures, including the ones you can see above.
