Cricketforce heroes 2014!

cleaning terrace fence 2

Nearly 50 cricketforcers dodged the showers and tackled an amazing list of improvements in four days of work all around the ground and pavilion.

Hoarding posts right around the boundary were undercoated and glossed; the picket fence was washed; the Garden of Eden weeded; the mint moved to a new garden closer to the Bar (PIMMS will be even fresher!); the terraces cleared of twigs; the pavilion doors freed from dried paint and sanded; and the secondary glazing panels were painted.

indoors 2

Indoors, the entrance was all spruced up; the function room painted; the Ladies were painted; the cellars cleared; and the home stair railings tackled. The pat testing will all be sorted out as well for another year.

Big thanks to Dom for turning up even though he’d broken his leg – he ran the registration desk and grated the cheese for jacket potatoes! in charge of the desk

The day was poignant as it coincided with the date when recently-departed committee member Ray Eden would have been 93. His friends gathered to mark the day – sitting where Ray would have had his usual Sunday 12 noon refreshment. And Cricketforce marked it by remembering his cheerful presence at the SNOWY Cricketforce of 2008.
